Drippy Goo!

Over the weekend I was fortunate enough to stumble across the Drippy Goo punch by Martha Stewart. I was so excited to find it so I went right home and got to work creating with it. Earlier in the week I had found this wooden picture frame I had been meaning to alter so I decide this would be the perfect project to use my new punch on. The paper and chipboard embellishments are Doodlebug. The font is Storybook by Cricut. The punch is Drippy Goo by Martha Stewart.

On a roll!

My young niece is sick with the flu and expected to be cooped up in bed for several days. So we thought it would be nice to take her some colors and coloring books to help her occupy the time. I had recently found the instructions for making a "crayon roll" from a wonderful blog called Skip to my lou. So I thought it would be fun to make her one of these instead of just giving her a box of crayons. Here is my finished results on this project. I plan to make several of these as Christmas gifts. Tissue Box

I haven't been getting much done lately. I've been busy with school starting back and our kitchen remodel but I did finally get a project finished. I wanted to make my sons Kindergarten teacher a tissue box cover for their classroom. I bought the wooden tissue box at Hobby Lobby in the unfinished wood section. I simply painted the box black and then cut pieces to cover each side and the top. Then I embellished with Cricut cuts from the Locker Talk cart and added stickles. The paper is from the Grade School DCWV paper pack.

Pillowcase dress

We had a birthday party on Saturday to go to for a sweet little girl that is very close to the family. So I took this opportunity to try my hand at something new...a pillowcase dress. I had seen some adorable ones on Etsy and I just new I had to try it. Since I don't have a little girl small enough to wear one I thought I would take the opportunity to make one for our little friend. It turned out to be quite easy to make but I'm not including instructions because I really just did it as I went along and I didn't use a pattern or anything. If you are interested in learning to make one of these dresses you might do a search on Youtube which is were I watched a video to get the basic idea of how to do it. Since making this dress I actually have some people wanting me to make them and sale them now. So I'm really happy I ventured into this little project last Saturday.

Pretty Little Princess'

We will be attending a birthday party of a sweet little 3 year old this weekend. She is getting ready to make her first trip to Disney World soon and being a little girl naturally she loves the Disney princess'. So naturally I wanted to make her something Disney theme. On a recent trip to my local Dollar General Store I found this cute sand bucket and the idea struck me to make her a princess bouqet. So I borrowed the Disney princess carts from a friend and went to work. And I must say these are some of the most difficult cuts I've done with my Cricut to date. All those tiny little intricate cuts are a real challenge to work with. But they where tons of fun to put together and embellish with my stickles. After finishing all the cuts I placed them on skewers and stuck in styrofoam in the bucket and added a gift card. And here is the finished results.

Go Team!

My daughter recently made middle school cheerleader and I wanted to make something for her to congratulate her. So I decided to try the freezer paper method to paint her a Hello Kitty cheer shirt. The cheerleader comes from HK Greetings. You place a piece of freezer paper shiny side up on the mat and cut your image. You remove the freezer paper and place it shiny side down on your fabric and iron with a hot dry iron. You check your edges and if they are all snuggly down then you paint in your image. I have had a ton of questions conerncing exactly how I done the image and I've tried explaining but it doesn't seem to be coming across too well in words. Sadly I've been busy and haven't had a chance to post more instructions with pics but I will work on this project in the next couple weeks so check back on my blog for step by step instructions with pics. Almost forgot

I almost forgot to post the goodies I made for Grayson's friends at school. I made little treats for everyone to wish them a "cool" summer. I made a pocket by cutting an 8 1/2" x 11" paper in half vertically. I scored at 3 1/2" and made the pocket then decoarted. The sun was cut at 3" from Hello Kitty Greetings cart and the tag is from George. Then decorate and add your two popsicles.

Hello Kitty tote

On the Cricut message boards I recently came across the idea of using the Cricut and freezer paper to make tshirts. I expanded on this idea and decided to make a canvas tote using this technique. You simple put freezer paper on your cutting mat shiny side up. You use the negative space and iron it onto your shirt or bag or any type of fabric. You make sure it's sealed all the way around your image and then paint the image in. I used acrlyic paint and fabric medium. Then I added ribbon along the top.

I found this super cute black and white wrapping paper at Hobby Lobby. Paired with the cute pink bows I couldn't resist adding Hello Kitty tags. They were cut at 3" and embossed using my Cuttlebug.

Hello Kitty bday

My daughters 13th birthday is tomorrow and since it's cool to like Hello Kitty even though you are a teenager she decided to go with that as her theme. Of course that fact that I have the HK cartridge helped influence her a little bit too. LOL. After deciding on her theme I got busy crafting. Here is her table decoration.

Teacher bouquet

I made this teacher bouquet using my Cricut and the Locker Talk cartridge. I just made my cuts in varying sizes and attached to barbecue skewers. Place styrofoam in the bottom of a flower pot and stick in. Cover the styrofoam with shredded paper.

Smarties

Here is the smartie jar I made for Grayson's teachers. The card that goes with this says "Thanks for making me such a "smartie".

Catch up

Whoo I'm not doing very good with keeping this updated regularly but I guess it's better late then never. With the end of the school soon approaching I've been working on making end of the year teacher gifts. Here are the giant candy bars I made for each of the teachers. Really simple to do just make a sleeve the same size of the candy bar wrapper and decorate.

Prom mini album

So my son is going to his first prom this year. I think I'm more excited about it then he is. LOL. His girlfriend is a total sweetheart so I wanted to make her something special to remember the occasion. This is going to be a little surprise for her and I hope she will like it as much as I do. Their prom this year has a masquerade theme to it so I used feathers to go along with that idea. This was the first time I've ever used feathers in my scrapbooking but they where a lot of fun and something I'm sure I'll use again. I went the black and cream for a sophisticated look and tried to incorporate some orange too as that is the color of her dress. The album it self is a 6x6 acrylic album. I used the Cricut Storybook cartridge for the titles. I also used a lot of stickles, ribbon, stitching, primas and feathers. I do plan to add a little something else to the cover between the words "Prom" and "2009" just not sure yet what it will be.

Cornhole anyone?

I guess we are a little behind on the cornhole craze but since we love playing when we go to our friends house we decided to make a set of our own. Back before I started scrapbooking I enjoyed wood working. I used to cut my own pieces and paint them but it had been at least 14 or 15 years since I had made anything. After a half dozen trips to different places to get all the supplies I needed we set into making our cornhole bags and boards. Jeff helped me making the cuts and I built them. After a while of searching on the internet for my paint scheme I settled on a UK vs. Louisville theme. I printed off pics on the internet that I wanted to use and then traced them onto my boards using a projector. After 3 days of painting here is the end result. All though it was a pretty tedious process I really enjoyed getting back to a hobby I had long forgotten. I'm real happy with how these turned out and I can't wait to start on a second set with possibly a Nascar theme.

Carrot treats

I wanted to make Easter treats for my youngest sons preschool class. I found this idea from someone on Splitcoaststampers. I used my Cricut and the Tags Bags Boxes and More cartridge. I cut the cake box at 5 1/2" and then filled them with jelly beans and attached ribbon to the ends.

I'm back!

Ugh! Well needless to say I got way off track with my project 365. I was doing great until we were pummled by an ice storm in February. We were without power for almost 2 weeks. So needless to say keeping up with my pictures and my blog were far from top of my priority list. So that project is something I had to drop but I plan to start over again either next year or maybe sooner like when I go back to work in a few months. I'm just going to concentrate now on updating my blog more frequently and working on some of the many scrapbooking and crafting projects I'm always juggling. I am excited to report that I have gotten a new camera finally so I have been snapping pics of everything I can for the last couple weeks. So here are a couple of my favorite pictures I've taken with it.

Day 24 - Princess Leia

I've been doing a lot of research for our upcoming trip to Disney. One of things I've been looking into is the Star Wars weekend. We didn't plan it but the weekend we arrive is the first weekend of the Star Wars Weekends in Hollywood Studios. Grayson is very excited by this but Brittany is not nearly as much. I was teasing her telling her she should wear her hair in Princess Leia buns to the park that day. So she run off to see if she could get them up in buns. I think she is going to need a little help next time.

Day 23 - Play Time

The kids are so addicted to the touch iPods they can't even wait for them to recharge. They have to set at the computer while they are charging and play them. Last night while Grayson played mine and Brittany played hers Bella couldn't leave them alone. She kept trying to climb up on them and get them to play with her instead.

Day 22 - First Job

Well Brittany is a working girl now. She has gotten her first job working in Moma Joan's beauty shop on Thursday afternoons. She is so excited to be making her "own" money.

Disney Planner

We are going to Disney World in May and I've been surfing the net picking up lots of useful information. Well I needed a place to keep track of it all and just a notebook to write things down in so I decided to alter a composition book. I used the Mickey Font and Mickey and Friends carts for this project along with ribbon and lots of stickles.

Day 21 - All in the family

I picked up the news paper this morning and thought what a wonderful picture it had of our new president. So I decided to get a group picture of all three of my kids holding the paper. This way they will never forget how old they where when such an astonishing thing happened in history.

Day 20 - History in the making

Today was definently a day for the history books. I talked with Grayson about what was going on and we talked about the old and the new President. Surprisingly enough Grayson knew who Barack Obama was before I ever even told him. I told him we where going to take a picture to remember today because one day he would be reading about this day in his history books.

Preschool

A few months ago my computer crashed and I lost a few pictures and I was very dissapointed to discover that some of them had been my youngest son's first day of school pictures. It just broke my heart to know that I would never recover them. Last night as I was in my scrap room I picked up the album I bought for his school pages and much to my surprise his first day of school pictures slid out the bottom. I had forgotten that I had printed them and stuck them in there. I was so happy to have found them! So I wanted to get right to work scrappin' them this morning. Here is the layout I came up with. The layout idea came from CTMH Reflections book. I used Locker Talk and Pooh Font. I am thrilled with how this layout turned out!

Winter '08

I finally got around to scrappin' pictures from last winter. I used my new Storybook cartridge and My Minds Eye papers. The snowflake is covered in beads so that is why it has the "glow" to it.

Favorite January picture

I'm not sure where I'm going to use this picture in my "Project 365" album. I may use it as a title page for January. I took this a couple Saturday's ago when it was just a rainy, foggy, dreary morning. I was on my computer and looked out the window and seen the fog laying across the road in the field and I thought it would make a great pic. I imagine it was quite amusing to the traffic going by to see me out in the front yard in the rain taking pictures of what would appear to be nothing.

Day 19 - An Unexpected Snow

Today was quite a surprise. We woke up to find it has snowed over night. The fact that the kids where already out of school today in celebration of Martin Luther King Day kind of took some of the fun out of it. Never the less though it was quite surprising since they wheren't really calling for snow. So my picture for today was taken off my front porch of the snow even though it wasn't a whole lot.

Project 365

If you have visited any scrapbook message boards recently no doubt you have seen posts talking about "Project 365". I've decided to take up this challenge and have been taking a pictures everyday since Jan. 1st. Some of my pictures are events and happenings that went on that day and some of my pictures are just objects that are important to us such as an iPod or maybe my Sunday coupons and coupon binder. While I know not everyone will find these things interesting my hope is that years from now me and my family will look back on these things with fond memories. I couldn't tell you how many times I have tried to explain to my kids some cool toy I used to have or some neat place we used to visit. Twenty years from now they will be able to share those important things from their childhood. Now how cool is that?!?!
